also with a long curled hair before apex.<br />

Squamulae greyish to yellowish-white with<br />

posterior rim dark greyish-brown. Halters<br />

greyish-brown with the knob darkened.<br />

Abdomen. Tergites black, slightly shining.<br />

The triangular spots of tergite 2-4 bronzy<br />

brown with greyish-white dusting. Tergite 5<br />

shining metallic black. The hairs mainly<br />

follow the ground-colour of the tergites,<br />

lateral hairs rather long and whitish.<br />

Sternites pellucid brownish-black with faint<br />

whitish dusting, the hairs whitish-yellow.<br />

Female<br />

Head. Vertical triangle and frons glittering<br />

black, frons with whitish dusting narrowly<br />

along eye-margins and then on the triangular<br />

spots in the middle of frons. The hairs black<br />

on anterior part of vertical triangle and on<br />

upper part of frons, lower part of frons<br />

mainly with yellowish hairs. Antennae somewhat<br />

larger than in the male, black and with<br />

third joint a little longer than deep. Arista<br />

black and almost bare. Face a little more protruding<br />

and 'nosy' than in the male, whitish<br />

or whitish-yellow dusted except for the facial<br />

tubercle, upper mouth-edge, and jowls; the<br />

hairs are whitish-yellow. Occiput whitish to<br />

whitish-yellow dusted, more yellowish dusted<br />

on upper parts; the hair colour mainly follows<br />

the colour of the dusting.<br />

Thorax. Mainly as in the male, but mesonotal<br />

hairs a little shorter. Wings and legs as<br />

in the male, except for the characteristic hairs<br />

and bristles of pl and pa Squamulae and<br />

halters as in the male.<br />

Abdomen. Tergites shining black with the<br />

triangular spots of tergite 2-4 metallic grey,<br />

and with much of the same purple and greenish-yellow<br />

lustre as in female of P. ambiguus.<br />

Sternites and abdominal pubescence as in<br />

the male.<br />
