75 get diplomas at <strong>the</strong> College of Staten Island's High School for for Int'l Studies Published: Thursday, June 24, 2010, 10:35 PM Staten Island Advance STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Home is def<strong>in</strong>itely where <strong>the</strong> heart is for <strong>the</strong> 75 graduates of <strong>the</strong> class of 2010 at <strong>the</strong> College of Staten Island’s High School for International Studies. From start to f<strong>in</strong>ish of today's commencement exercises <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>CSI</strong>'s Perform<strong>in</strong>g Arts Center, it was evident that <strong>the</strong> students, family, honored guests and faculty members are family. Staten Island Advance/Jan Somma Hammel The Class of 2010 at <strong>the</strong> College of Staten Island's High School for International Studies It was just <strong>the</strong> second graduation for <strong>the</strong> fledgl<strong>in</strong>g <strong>CSI</strong> High School for International Studies, one of <strong>the</strong> Department of Education’s small, <strong>the</strong>med high schools. It emphasizes foreign languages and <strong>in</strong>ternational studies and prepares students for deal<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>in</strong> global bus<strong>in</strong>ess and <strong>the</strong> world economy. Although, it is now located <strong>in</strong> New Spr<strong>in</strong>gville, it ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>s its affiliation with <strong>the</strong> Asia Society and <strong>the</strong> College of Staten Island, on whose Willowbrook campus <strong>the</strong> school was first located, <strong>in</strong> 2005. Faculty and students strive to <strong>in</strong>spire each o<strong>the</strong>r to "dream big," said Marissa Mule, a member of <strong>the</strong> graduat<strong>in</strong>g class, <strong>in</strong> her address. Simit Christian, ano<strong>the</strong>r graduate, told his fellows that as <strong>the</strong>y move forward from "home sweet high school" to <strong>the</strong>ir bright futures, "we must spread our w<strong>in</strong>gs, take our knowledge to new heights." The commencement concluded with a farewell address from <strong>the</strong> found<strong>in</strong>g pr<strong>in</strong>cipal, Aimee Horowitz. "We had a vision, we had a dream, and toge<strong>the</strong>r we saw it through," she said. "You are off to great places but never forget you will always have a home at <strong>CSI</strong> High School for International Studies."
