3 teens charged <strong>in</strong> N.J. attack on former College of Staten Island<br />

professor, report says<br />

OLD BRIDGE, N.J. -- Three teens have been arrested <strong>in</strong> connection with an attack on a former College of<br />

Staten Island professor and his two sons on Friday, accord<strong>in</strong>g to a published report.<br />

The circumstances of <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>cident rema<strong>in</strong> unclear and <strong>the</strong> Middlesex County prosecutor's office refused to<br />

disclose any details of what happened, which left <strong>the</strong> 49-year-old fa<strong>the</strong>r badly beaten, <strong>the</strong> Star-Ledger is<br />

report<strong>in</strong>g. Authorities did not release his name, but friends and neighbors identified him as Divyendu S<strong>in</strong>ha.<br />

He rema<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> critical condition Sunday night at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital <strong>in</strong> New Brunswick, N.J.,<br />

accord<strong>in</strong>g to <strong>the</strong> report.<br />

The suspects, all of whom are 17, have been charged with aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit<br />

aggravated assault, O'Neill said. Their names were not released because of <strong>the</strong>ir ages.<br />

Authorities said <strong>the</strong>y received a 911 call around 11:30 p.m. Friday. When officers arrived, <strong>the</strong>y found <strong>the</strong><br />

victim on <strong>the</strong> ground outside his house on Fela Drive, a neighborhood of newer homes.<br />
