“It is a testament to your hard work and dedication that you are here today,” Ashe said. The class of 2010<br />

also broke ano<strong>the</strong>r record by distribut<strong>in</strong>g 32 Regents diplomas.<br />

He urged <strong>the</strong> students to cont<strong>in</strong>ue to work hard and keep mov<strong>in</strong>g forward. “Your resilience and perseverance<br />

is <strong>in</strong>spir<strong>in</strong>g,” he told <strong>the</strong> class.<br />

Salutatorian Mart<strong>in</strong> Brown, a filmmaker and <strong>in</strong>tern at <strong>the</strong> district attorney’s office, thanked his aunt for<br />

help<strong>in</strong>g him become <strong>the</strong> person he is. He thanked his teachers and pr<strong>in</strong>cipals for be<strong>in</strong>g “ cool people” and he<br />

congratulated his fellows on <strong>the</strong>ir graduation. Brown also imparted some advice for <strong>the</strong> future: “ All dreams<br />

start somewhere. Be thankful for what you have ... for if you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will<br />

have noth<strong>in</strong>g.”<br />
