Endowment Lectures:
Dr. R. Gopalan Endowment Lecture was delivered by Dr. Dhathathreyan, Director,
Fuel Cell Technology Division on ‘Art of Fuel Cells’, 08 February 2007.
Gift Siromoney Endowment Lecture was delivered by Dr. K. Balasubramanian,
Department of Statistics, Retd. Professor, Indian Statistical Institute, New Delhi, on
‘Statistics in Life’, March 2007.
International Conferences:
• Department of Social Work organized an International Study Conference on the
theme ‘Human Rights and Education’, in which about 200 delegates from 24
Social Work institutions participated. The resource persons included Rev. Dr.
Ignacimuthu, former Vice-Chancellor, University of Madras, Mr. Saji Thomas,
Officer, UNICEF, Justice A. J. Venkatachelamoorthy, Justice Narayana Kurup and
Mr. Fredrick J. Kaplan of US Consulate, October 2006.
National:
• Department of Statistics organized a UGC sponsored national workshop on
‘Survey Methodology’ which outlined the methodologies to be adopted in any
survey, March 2007.
• Department of Commerce (SFS) organized a national seminar on ‘Technology in
Financial Sector’. The lecture was delivered by Dr. R. Ravichandran, Secretary
General, Indo-Latin American Chamber of Commerce & Industry, September
2006.
