has also been installed on a trial basis so as to provide wireless internet and
intranet access within the premises of the Zoology Department.
Area of Specialization of the Centre: The Centre is likely to specialize in an
area of Genomics and the same will be finalized by members of the staff from
all Life Sciences Departments.
Infrastructure facilities in the Bioinformatics Centre: Establishment of fullfledged
Bioinformatics Facility as per the guidelines and sanction order of the
DBT is likely to be initiated during February 2007 out of the funds released
during this year. The following facilities are available at present at the Centre.
18. Community services and other support services:
MCC SCHOOL OF CONTINUING EDUCATION (MCCSCE)
The academic year commenced on 12 July 2006 with the enrollment of candidates for
the full-time Diploma and Post-graduate Diploma Courses. The enrollment was near
to full capacity in most of the full-time courses. There has been remarkable response
from students of the regular courses of the college for enrolment in the evening parttime
courses, especially in Advertising and Public Relations; Human Resource
Management, Computer Applications and several other computer-based short-term
Certificate Courses. The overall enrolment has been very encouraging totaling 210 in
the fourteen courses offered, as against about 150 in the previous years. The
contribution of the Printing Press, as the sustainable resource generating component
of the School, is satisfactory.
The Eleventh Annual Convocation of the MCCSCE was held on 30 November 2006.
Dr. Mithra G. Augustine, former Principal of MCC who was responsible for the
starting of the Continuing Education unit in the College, as the Guest of Honour,
delivered an inspiring Convocation Address. The students were privileged to attend an
international seminar in Chennai on Print Journalism. The students of Printing
Technology were given industrial exposure for four months in reputed companies.
They also attended an international conference at Hyderabad.
