<strong>AQAR</strong> <strong>2006</strong>-<strong>2007</strong>, MADRAS CHRISTIAN COLLEGE, CHENNAI<br />

with the staff members visited Hyderabad chapter and Vishakapatnam chapter in July<br />

<strong>2006</strong>. The first batch under autonomy, that is class of 1978-81, visited the college. On<br />

November 17 <strong>2006</strong>, the Principal had a meeting with Ms Indra Nooyi (Alumnus of<br />

B.Sc Chemistry-1970-’73, currently the CEO of Pepsico), at New York, USA. The<br />

MCC Alumni Carol Concert was held on 11 and 12 December <strong>2006</strong>. Nine choirs sang<br />

on the first day and eight on the second day, which were attended by over 5000<br />

people<br />

31. Activities and support from the Parent-Teacher association:<br />

All parents/guardians are expected to monitor the progress of the students in<br />

academics and in the hall life. The Dean of Student Affairs periodically contacts<br />

parents based on academic progress and disciplinary aspects. At the departmental<br />

level the Heads of Departments invite parents/guardians as and when needed to<br />

discuss the progress of their wards.<br />

32. Health services:<br />

Resident Medical Officer caters to the needs of the students and staff on campus. The<br />

doctor also visits the college extension centers to provide health services for the poor<br />

and marginalized.<br />

Athletics<br />

• Wayne Peppin of I M.A. Political Science won a God Medal in Long Jump event at<br />

the South Asian Games Federation (SAF) held at Colombo, Sri Lanka.<br />

• N. Vadivelu of III B.Sc. Physical Education won a Bronze Medal in Pole-vault<br />

event at the South Asian Games Federation (SAF) held at Colombo, Sri Lanka.<br />

• N. Albert Selvakumar of III B.Sc. Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology won the<br />

Silver Medal in 4 x 100 mts relay event at the State Level Championship held at<br />

Karaikudi.<br />

• P. Chidambaranathan, III B.A. Philosophy, won Gold Medal in Shot-Put event at<br />

the State Level Championship held at Karaikudi.<br />
