and Cape Town.
TOUR DURATION: 13 NIGHTS
h Pretoria: 1 night h Mpumalanga/Kruger Park: 2 nights
h Swaziland: 1 night h St Lucia: 2 nights
h Durban: 2 nights h Knysna: 1 night
h Oudtshoorn: 1 night h Cape Town: 3 nights
DAY 1 h On arrival in Johannesburg you are met by a Kuoni
representative and depart for the capital, Pretoria, for a
city tour en route to your chosen hotel. Drive past the
government buildings and visit the Voortrekker Monument
before a welcome dinner at a local restaurant. Choose from
the Holiday Inn Express Pretoria Sunnypark (Three Star
option) or the Premier Hotel Pretoria (Four Star option),
(approx. 100 miles, 3 hours).
DAY 2 h Journey through the Mpumalanga province to the
incredibly scenic Panorama Route including stops at
Bourke’s Luck Potholes and God’s Window. Arrive at your
hotel early evening and enjoy the remainder of the day
at leisure. Spend two nights at the Pine Lake Inn (Three
Star) or the Protea Hotel Winkler (Four Star), (approx.
300 miles, 9 hours).
DAY 3 h Early this morning, embark on a full day safari in
your closed touring vehicle in the Kruger National Park
(breakfast packs included). An English speaking game ranger
will join the coach on entrance into the National park and
guide you through the park in search of the ‘Big Five’
animals including lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo.
A lunch stop is included at one of the various rest camps
inside the park (at extra cost). Return to the hotel and
spend time at leisure until dinner. Alternatively, you can
chose to explore the Kruger National Park in an open safari
game vehicle with an English speaking ranger (at extra
cost). We highly recommend this option, which can be prebooked
in the UK. (approx. 150 miles, 8 hours).
DAY 4 h Embark upon an enchanting drive to the Kingdom
of Swaziland where you will visit a cultural village, the
Ngwenya Glass Works and vibrant local markets. Stay
overnight at the Lugogo Sun (Three and Four Star), (approx.
230 miles, 6 hours).
DAY 5 h Today visit a Swazi candle factory before
transferring through Swaziland to St Lucia in the KwaZulu-
Natal province - a relatively unexplored area of the country
with magnificent scenery and wildlife and home to South
Africa’s oldest national park, the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi. After
arriving at your hotel, spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Spend tonight at the Elephant Lake Hotel (Three Star) or
Lidiko Lodge (Four Star), (approx. 220 miles, 4 hours).
DAY 6 h Embark on a boat safari on Lake St Lucia, a World
Heritage Site where you may spot hippos and plentiful bird
life. Later, enjoy a three hour game drive in an open safari
vehicle in the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve, guided by
English speaking rangers. The Reserve contains the largest
population of white rhino in the world as well as all other
Big Five animals, (approx. 160 miles, 4-5 hours).
