YOUR
ITINER ARY
TOUR DURATION: 8 NIGHTS
h Zanzibar town: 2 nights
h Selous: 2 nights
h Zanzibar beach: 4 nights
DAY 1 h On arrival in Zanzibar, transfer to the Zanzibar
Serena Inn (p93) for two nights (Four and Five Star option).
This oceanfront hotel enjoys a prime location in the centre
of Zanzibar’s historic capital, Stone Town. With splendid
architecture and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site,
Stone Town’s maze of narrow alleyways, old forts and
gardens, museums and places of worship provide for
fascinating exploring. We highly recommend that you
prebook our Stone Town Tour (p23) – a half day guided
excursion around the town and a great way to learn about
the rich Arab, Indian, Persian and European influences
on the culture.
DAY 3 h Today you will transfer to Selous, Africa’s largest
game reserve. Fly to either the Selous Riverside Camp
(Four Star) or Selous Mivumo River Lodge (Five Star) for
two nights. Selous Riverside Camp is an intimate tented
camp beside the Rufiji River. Ten spacious tents, all with en
suite bathroom and private deck, blend harmoniously with
the African bush, providing privacy, comfort and beautiful
views. The camp also has a pool and dining is in the
restaurant or under the stars. Perched high on the banks of
the Rufiji River, Selous Mivumo River Lodge is an isolated
retreat with glorious views. 12 exclusive rooms are housed
in wildwood chalets on stilts, each with private plunge pool
and luxury en suite bathroom with outdoor shower,
and facilities include a central dining room, library, lounge
bar and infinity pool. At both camps, enjoy shared activities
including game drives in the remote forest and bushland,
spotting the park’s large elephant herds, leopards and rare
African hunting dog amongst other wildlife, and game
viewing by boat, seeking hippo and crocodile on the mighty
Rufiji River.
DAY 5 h Transfer to Selous airstrip and depart on your
return light aircraft flight to Zanzibar, where you will
transfer to your chosen Zanzibar beach resort: Breezes
Beach Club & Spa (p84, Four Star) or Baraza Resort & Spa
(p85, Five Star) for four nights. Spend your days lounging
by the pool, in the spa or on the beach; venture underwater
excursion (all extra cost).
