DAY 1 h On arrival collect your<br />
Europcar Group B vehicle and<br />
make your way to the Holiday Inn<br />
Express Durban-Umhlanga and<br />
stay the night in a Standard room.<br />
DAY 2 h After breakfast travel for<br />
approx. three and a half hours<br />
along the N3 to the Drakensberg<br />
region. Pass the town of<br />
Pietermaritzburg and continue to<br />
the town of Winterton. Arrive at<br />
Three Trees at Spioenkop in the<br />
Spioenkop Game Reserve where<br />
you will stay for two nights in a<br />
Standard room.<br />
DAY 3 h Spend you day at leisure<br />
exploring the Drakensberg region.<br />
Enjoy optional visits to the sites of<br />
the Battle of Spioenkop, Winston<br />
Churchill’s capture, the Battle of<br />
Colenso or enjoy relaxing round<br />
the pool. Game walks or horse<br />
rides through the reserve or visits<br />
to the Siege Museum and an old<br />
Anglican church are also available.<br />
DAY 4 h Leave the lodge this<br />
morning and make your way<br />
to Dundee and the Battlefields<br />
(approx. 115 miles, including 5<br />
miles of dirt road to the lodges).<br />
Stay in Isandlwana Lodge in a in a<br />
Standard room.<br />
We highly recommend an early<br />
start so as to arrive at the lodge<br />
by 1.30 pm to enable you to join<br />
a guided tour to the battle site<br />
of Rorke’s Drift as offered by the<br />
lodges (extra cost). If you are<br />
interested in these historic battles,<br />
we would suggest including an<br />
additional night so that you are<br />
able to take in a guided tour of<br />
Isandlwana which departs every<br />
morning at 9.00 am (approx. 3½-4<br />
hours). The driving time to Ghost<br />
Mountain Inn, the next destination,<br />
does not permit enough time to do<br />
this all in one day.<br />
DAY 5 h Embark on a five hour<br />
(approximately) drive today to<br />
reach your next hotel which<br />
is located close to the town of<br />
Mkuze. Stay for two nights at<br />
Ghost Mountain Inn in a Standard<br />
room (approx. 190 miles).<br />
DAY 6 h Spend the day at leisure<br />
to explore the area at your own<br />
pace. Consider visiting a Zulu<br />
village in the area for a cultural<br />
experience, take a game drive in<br />
Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve<br />
or Mkuze, go Tiger fishing, or<br />
enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Jozini<br />
(all at extra cost).<br />
DAY 7 h Leave Mkuze and travel<br />
along the N2 towards Durban.<br />
Transfer to the King Shaka<br />
International Airport. Return<br />
your rental vehicle and fly South<br />
African Airways via Johannesburg<br />
overnight to Heathrow, arriving<br />

at a spot of fishing and enjoy the<br />
facilities at the hotel.<br />
DAY 10 h This morning leave the<br />
hotel and return your rental<br />
vehicle before you transfer to the<br />
airport for your onward journey.<br />
