Financial Aid<br />
University students who demonstrate an ongoing commitment<br />
to human and environmental rights, economic justice,<br />
gender equity and community service. Each year, two undergraduate<br />
scholarship awards and one graduate scholarship<br />
award are provided to returning students who best represent<br />
those values. New students are not eligible. Recipients<br />
are selected based upon academic record, commitment to<br />
human rights and financial need. <strong>Undergraduate</strong> candidates<br />
must apply for this award by May 15; graduate candidates<br />

Grants and Scholarships<br />
Southern New Hampshire University need-based grants are<br />
available for full-time undergraduate day students. Awards<br />
range from $500 to $12,000 annually.<br />

Endowed Scholarships<br />
The following endowed scholarships are awarded to returning<br />
students who best meet the listed eligibility requirements.<br />
Separate applications for these scholarships are<br />
available each spring from the Office of Financial Aid or<br />
online at www.snhu.edu/1453.asp.<br />
Frank and Eleanor Barnes Alumni Scholarship<br />
Established in 1979 in honor of Frank and Eleanor Barnes,<br />
former Southern New Hampshire University information<br />
technology professors, this scholarship is available to assist<br />
students majoring in information technology or<br />
accounting/information systems based on financial need<br />
and academic criteria.<br />
Charles & Barbara Bickford International<br />
Scholarship<br />
Charles & Barbara Bickford established this scholarship to<br />
benefit graduate or undergraduate international students.<br />
Preference will be given to needy students in the following<br />
order: students from Vietnam or Cambodia, students from<br />
Southeast Asia or China, then lastly students from other foreign<br />
countries.<br />
Helder Biesek/Mildred K. Smith Scholarship<br />
This fund was established by John and Catherine-Ann<br />
(Smith) Day in memory of Catherine-Ann’s mother, Mildred<br />
K. Smith, and Helder Biesek, a former student at the Institute<br />
for Language Education (ILE) who was killed in a tragic accident<br />
before completing his education. While still alive,<br />
Mildred K. Smith earnestly desired that this scholarship be<br />
established in Helder’s memory to enable future students at<br />
the ILE to continue their education at Southern New<br />
Hampshire University. The scholarship supports international<br />
students enrolled in the university’s English as a<br />
Second Language program based on academic potential and<br />
financial need.<br />
Henry W. Bloch Scholarship Fund<br />
This fund was established as a gift to the university by H&R<br />
Block founder and Southern New Hampshire University honorary<br />
degree recipient, Henry W. Bloch. This scholarship is<br />
awarded to full-time undergraduate students who are<br />
enrolled in their junior or senior year at Southern New<br />
Hampshire University, are academically qualified students in<br />
a business major and have demonstrated financial need.<br />
Priority is given to students who are highly involved in college<br />
life and activities.<br />
Hector Boiardi Scholarship<br />
This fund was established in memory of Hector Boiardi to<br />
provide scholarships to students with financial need who<br />
have shown a real interest in culinary studies. Awarded to a<br />
junior or senior in a hospitality-related baccalaureate program<br />
at Southern New Hampshire University, scholarships<br />
benefit culinary arts graduates who are continuing their<br />
studies. Awards are based on academic achievement in culinary<br />
arts, overall academic record (minimum 3.0 GPA),<br />
involvement in curricular and co-curricular activities and<br />
financial need. Students must apply for this award and be<br />
accepted into an undergraduate program to be considered<br />
for this scholarship.<br />
Scott Caswell Memorial Scholarship<br />
After his death in 1987, this fund was created by friends of<br />
Scott Caswell to benefit juniors or seniors who are enrolled in<br />
computer-related majors. Recipients must be residents of New<br />
Hampshire and have a minimum grade point average of 3.0.<br />
Culinary Scholarship<br />
The Culinary Program contributes gratuity proceeds from the<br />
Student run Quill Restaurant to fund endowed scholarship<br />
awards for students enrolled in the Culinary Arts program.<br />
Scholarships are awarded to culinary arts majors (in the culinary<br />
or baking track) for the second year of the associate<br />
degree program. Awards are based on academic achievement<br />
in culinary arts, overall academic record, involvement in curricular<br />
and co-curricular activities and financial need.<br />
Dow Scholarship<br />
This fund was established from the Franconia College<br />
Endowment to provide scholarships with preference first to<br />
students who reside in the towns of Franconia, Sugar Hill,<br />
Easton, Bethlehem, Littleton or Lisbon and second to students<br />
who reside in Grafton and Coos Counties.<br />
The Educational Continuum Scholarship<br />
This fund was established by the Southern New Hampshire<br />
University Educational Continuum. This scholarship is<br />
awarded to qualified students from Manchester and the surrounding<br />
area based on financial need and academic merit.<br />
