Dipl.-Ökonom Fred Kappler (*1958)<br />

Member of the Board of Directors<br />

since 1 January 2004<br />

Graduate of business sciences studies at<br />

the Braunschweig Technical University and<br />

the University of Hannover. Joined<br />

Volkswagen in 1982. In 1993–94 he was<br />

Regional Manager for the Benelux<br />

Countries, the United Kingdom, and<br />

Ireland. In 1995–97 he served as Head of<br />

Sales in North-western Europe. He became<br />

First Vice President of FAW/VW in China in<br />

1997. From June 2000 he was the Company’s<br />

Head of Sales for Germany. Since January<br />

2004 he has been a Member of the Board<br />

of Directors of Škoda <strong>Auto</strong> with<br />

responsibility for Sales and Marketing.<br />

Ing. Martin Jahn (*1970)<br />

Member of the Board of Directors<br />

since 23 February <strong>2006</strong><br />

A graduate of the University of Economics,<br />

Prague (major in foreign trade) and the<br />

DePaul University in Chicago (major in<br />

marketing and communications). In<br />

1994–2004 he worked at CzechInvest, an<br />

agency of the Czech Government, as<br />

director of its U.S. Representation Office<br />

from 1996 and from 1999 as the agency’s<br />

Director General. In August 2004 he was<br />

named Vice Chairman of the Government<br />

of the Czech Republic for the Economy. He<br />

is currently a member of the Board of<br />

Trustees of the University of Economics,<br />

Prague, as well as a member of the<br />

Research and Development Council, which<br />

is a specialised advisory body to the<br />

Government of the Czech Republic. The<br />

President of the French Republic made him<br />

a member of the Ordre National du Mérit.<br />

Since February <strong>2006</strong> he has been with<br />

Škoda <strong>Auto</strong> as the Member of the Board of<br />

Directors for Human Resources.<br />

Dr.-Ing. Harald Ludanek (*1958)<br />

Member of the Board of Directors<br />

since 1 April 2005<br />

A graduate of the University of Public<br />

Administration and Economics in<br />

Sigmaringen, major in customs issues<br />

(1979–80), and the Clausthal Technical<br />

University, major in mechanical<br />

engineering (1986). Upon completing his<br />

studies he worked as a researcher in the<br />

Department of Applied Mechanics and<br />

Vibration of the Institute of Technical<br />

Mechanics, Clausthal Technical University,<br />

under Prof. Dr. D. Behr, where in 1990 he<br />

received a doctorate in mechanics and<br />

vibration. In 1989–91 he served on the<br />

Academic Board of the Institute of<br />

Technical Mechanics at Clausthal Technical<br />

University. In 1992 he joined the Group<br />

research department of Volkswagen, where<br />

he worked in departments focused on<br />

special drive and gearbox systems. In 1996<br />

he transferred to Volkswagen Technical<br />

Development, where he served in the<br />

Whole Vehicle Development area until<br />

1997. In 1997–2000 he was a Technical<br />

Development assistant to the member of<br />

the Board of Directors and from 2000 he<br />

took over management of the Volkswagen<br />

Group Development function, a position<br />

he held until 2002. Dr. Ludanek joined<br />

Škoda <strong>Auto</strong> Technical Development in<br />

2002 as Head of Development and<br />

effective 2005 he was appointed the<br />

Member of the Board of Directors<br />

responsible for Technical Development.<br />
