A Short Survey<br />
This introduction surveys <strong>the</strong> main reference works and secondary<br />
studies on <strong>the</strong> Cantong qi. Numbers in square brackets refer to <strong>the</strong><br />
entries in <strong>the</strong> Bibliographic Catalogue found in Part I <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> present<br />
book.<br />
TEXTUAL STUDIES<br />
<strong>The</strong> only modern textual study <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Cantong qi was published by<br />
Imai Usaburō 今 井 宇 三 郎 in 1966. His Shūeki sandōkei bunshō tsū<br />
shingi kōhon 『 周 易 三 同 契 分 章 通 真 義 』 校 本 (Textual collation <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> Zhouyi cantong qi fenzhang tong zhenyi) consists <strong>of</strong> a collation<br />
based on <strong>the</strong> Daozang edition (1445) <strong>of</strong> Peng Xiao’s redaction. It<br />
reports variants found in <strong>the</strong> Jindan zhengli daquan (1538) edition <strong>of</strong><br />
Peng Xiao’s work and in eleven editions <strong>of</strong> works by eight o<strong>the</strong>r<br />
