SCHEDULE 5 – REMOTE LOCALITIES<br />
1. Coverage<br />
1.1. This Schedule 5 applies to employees who are eligible for assistance in accordance with<br />
clause D13 <strong>of</strong> this <strong>Agreement</strong>.<br />
2. Additional annual leave<br />
2.1. A full time employee will accrue annual leave at the rate (expressed in weeks) specified for<br />
their remote locality in Table A or Table B <strong>of</strong> this Schedule 5.<br />
2.2. A part time employee is entitled to accrue pro rata leave under this clause 2 in accordance<br />
with the hours they work.<br />
2.3. Leave accrued under this Schedule 5 accrues in addition to annual leave available under<br />
clause G2 (annual leave) and/or subclause F17.9 (additional shift leave).<br />
3. District allowance<br />
3.1. An employee is entitled to a district allowance in accordance with:<br />
(a)<br />
(b)<br />
(c)<br />
the grading specified for the locality in Table A or Table B <strong>of</strong> this Schedule 5; and<br />
the rate for the applicable grade, as specified in the relevant subscription service; and<br />
the relevant rate in the subscription service, depending on an employee’s dependents.<br />
3.2. The district allowance is payable on a fortnightly basis in accordance with payment <strong>of</strong> salary.<br />
4. Leave fares<br />
4.1. An employee may be entitled to leave fares in accordance with Table A or Table B <strong>of</strong> this<br />
Schedule 5, which accrues on a yearly (annual) basis, or every two years (biennial).<br />
4.2. An annual leave fare will lapse two years from the date the leave fare accrued, and a biennial<br />
leave fare will lapse four years from the date the leave fare accrued.<br />
4.3. An employee who has completed probation may elect to receive their leave fare as a cash<br />
payment. This election may be made at any time. Once an election has been made, all future<br />
entitlements will be processed as a cash payment on accrual.<br />
4.4. Cash payments will be made in accordance with the rates specified in Tables A and B and will<br />
be grossed up to reflect the tax rate applicable to the employee’s annual salary.<br />
5. Air-conditioning subsidy<br />
5.1. An employee residing in a Commonwealth dwelling is entitled to an air-conditioning subsidy in<br />
accordance with Table A or Table B <strong>of</strong> this Schedule 5.<br />
6. Other fares assistance<br />
6.1. An employee will be entitled to:<br />
(a)<br />
(b)<br />
reimbursement <strong>of</strong> the cost <strong>of</strong> travel to the nearest qualified medical or dental practitioner<br />
for medical or emergency dental treatment where the treatment is not available at the<br />
employee’s usual locality;<br />
reimbursement <strong>of</strong> fares incurred for emergency or compassionate travel; and<br />
