10 YEARS BNA
SPECIAL FEATURE
“Aap Kaa Surroor” (2007),”Mujjahir” (2010),
“Don 2” (2010) and “Chennai Express”
(2012).
Within the next few years some more websites
all over Germany and Europe developed,
which also offered news and information about
Bollywood. Some of them even copied our
articles and pictures as for them we have been
the only reliable source, because we got firsthand
news from India and also reported exclusively
and directly from all major events in
Europe and India. For me it was good to know
that people trusted us and followed us, as it
showed me to be on the right track. The Bollywood
boom in Europe was between 2004 and
2010. In those years many Bollywood films
were screened on TV, many of the latest Bollywood
films were even released in our cinemas,
very rarely dubbed but mainly with English
subtitles, many concerts of Bollywood playback
singers took place in Europe, many films
were shot in Europe and many shows happened.
For every Bollywood fan those years
were amazing.
But slowly it did happen that big Bollywood
shows were announced but did not take place.
People lost their ticket money and with that
their trust. The TV channels
stopped screening new Bollywood
films but only repeated films like
“KKKG” or “Kal Ho Naa Hoo” many
times. The only steady institution
have been the Berlinale (Berlin
Film Festival), which had every
year Indian Films and even film
premieres with Red Carped and
with the stars. We felt that something
has to happen to push the
Indian Cinema again in Europe.
BNA GERMANY was still successful
and people asked us to publish
a printed media. That's why we
started publishing the monthly
print magazine “BNA GERMANY”
in 2010 in cooperation with Gurdas
Maan's MGM Sai Production.
Within one year we became the
biggest magazine on Indian Cinema
& Culture in Europe even
though there have been also
some other Bollywood magazines.
Since no bigger shows or events
happened any longer in Germany,
the idea was born to organize
such a big Event by ourselves - an
Indian festival with films, stage
