based systems or a hybrid of both. Bus<strong>in</strong>ess users see the architecture through the<br />

applications.<br />

If we are go<strong>in</strong>g to put this <strong>in</strong>to a process, we must analyze the c<strong>and</strong>idate<br />

processes, c<strong>and</strong>idate services, <strong>and</strong> metadata we def<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> the previous steps,<br />

<strong>and</strong> then assign them the proper platform (see Figure 10.4). We discuss the<br />

analysis process <strong>in</strong> the rema<strong>in</strong>der of this chapter, focus<strong>in</strong>g on what to move.<br />

In the next chapter, we talk about how to make the move.<br />

When <strong>Cloud</strong> <strong>Comput<strong>in</strong>g</strong> Fits<br />

There are no hard <strong>and</strong> fast rules for how to assign a process, data, or service<br />

to a cloud comput<strong>in</strong>g–based or on-premise platform. It is a matter of look<strong>in</strong>g<br />
