Conquering the Crazy
READ: Isaiah 43:14-19
KEY VERSE: For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun!
Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create
rivers in the dry wasteland. – Isaiah 43:19 (NLT)
Many amusement park fans eagerly awaited the opening of The Verrückt
– the world’s largest water slide. This thriller at Schlitterbahn Waterpark in
Kansas City, Kan., is 168 feet and features a 50-foot drop that’s taller than
Niagara Falls.
When I heard about The Verrückt, whose name means “the crazy,” I thought
of slides I rode at a different park and how much faith it took to climb the
stairs to the top. It made me wonder if I might have what it takes to conquer
The Verrückt.
But the Lord reminds us to never fear whatever lies in our journey. We can
look back and see how far we’ve already come and spring forward in faith,
knowing the best is ahead. Even if the whole process seems crazy.
–Rev. Yvonne D. Hawkins
LOOKING WITHIN: What Verrückt am I facing in my life right now? What feats
have I previously conquered? How can I apply faith lessons learned to my
current challenge?
God of Grace, I worship you for your great vision. You know the path I
take. Grant me faith to see what you see – or be undeterred even if I can’t
see. Amen.
