Mercy in Our Lives
READ: Genesis 39:1-22
KEY VERSE: But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He
gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. –Genesis 39:21 (NKJV)
Joseph was in one of the worst places of his life. He was imprisoned because
of the accusations and lies of another man’s wife. His situation seemed
hopeless. But God, who always knows the truth, showed him mercy and made
a way out.
God did the same for me one day. I was stuck on a road in Cameroon when
the truck I was riding in had a flat. The driver had to walk miles to get the tire
fixed. I was alone in a foreign country, unfamiliar with the language, standing
with the truck on a dusty road at sunset. I could hear wildlife in the bushes all
around me.
What a joy to see that driver return with the repaired tire. By God’s amazing
grace, we were soon on our way, away from the imminent dangers that had
surrounded me. God will show the same mercy to you if you trust Him and
remain faithful in your walk with Him. -Rev. Samuel Nixon Jr.
LOOKING WITHIN: How has God shown me His mercy in a seemingly
impossible situation?
Lord, thank you that your mercy endures forever and keeps me day by day!
Thank you for not letting me be caught up in my prisons of life forever, but
delivering me in very special ways. Amen.
