No Time for Idols<br />
READ: Exodus 20:1-6<br />
KEY VERSES: “You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make<br />
for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth<br />
beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship<br />
them.” – Exodus 20:3-5 (NIV)<br />
If anyone asked if you put anything or anyone above the Lord, you would<br />
probably say no, right? But think about it. Do you choose working late instead<br />
of going to Bible study? Catching up on chores instead of spending quiet time<br />
with God? Sleeping in on Sunday mornings instead of going to church?<br />
God lays down the law in the Ten Commandments with the first two dealing<br />
with our duty to Him. Although we may not physically bow down and<br />
worship our jobs, possessions, children, relationships or activities, truth be<br />
told, we do sometimes let them take priority over the Lord. I know I do. And<br />
that, to say the least, is not good.<br />
Let’s kick those idols to the side and give our time and worship to the<br />
Almighty God. –Barbranda Walls<br />
LOOKING WITHIN: What have I made an idol in my life? What will I do this<br />
week to make God the priority instead of something or someone else?<br />
Father God, please open my eyes to the idols in my life. May my worship<br />
focus only on you and be acceptable in your sight. In Jesus’ name I pray.<br />
