Fellowship of Kindred Minds
READ: Philippians 2:1-11
KEY VERSES: If you have any encouragement from being united with
Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any common sharing in the Spirit,
if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being
like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. -
Philippians 2:1-2 (NIV)
Descendants of my grandfather and his five siblings gather from far and
near the first weekend in August to share our history, pray, laugh and eat.
We welcome new members, mourn those who have passed since the last
gathering, and celebrate accomplishments of all kinds. We are family – built
on a solid foundation of faith in Jesus Christ and love, caring and commitment
to each other. We promise to stay in close touch and keep each other in
prayer. Then we part in love and peace.
That’s how fellowship among Christians should be. We should share each
other’s burdens and joys, encourage and strengthen one another, and
do God’s work in the community and the church. Giving of yourself will
come back to you as acceptance, love and friendship you can depend on.
Fellowship is essential for a closer walk with the Savior. –Rita Womack
LOOKING WITHIN: Am I in fellowship with members of a church? How can I
improve that fellowship?
Lord, help me overcome whatever is holding me back from being an active
member of a church. This is my prayer in Jesus’ name. Amen.
