If You Don’t Know Me By Now
READ: John 4:1-26
KEY VERSE: “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers
will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to
worship Him.” -John 4:23 (NKJV)
In John 4, Jesus’ journey takes Him through Samaria. He meets a Samaritan
woman by a well whom He asks for a drink of water. The two talk about God
and the living water, and the conversation ends with a discussion on worship.
Jesus tells the woman that to truly worship we must understand the object of
worship. We must know the Father.
Too many times, we either play at church, or do not fully study and
comprehend God’s Word. Often, we are merely going through the motions
of worship. To worship God is to come into His presence with thanksgiving in
our hearts. We come to know God and not simply know of God. Because we
come to Him in spirit and truth, the door is open 24 hours a day no matter our
location physically or spiritually. –Minister Keith A. Perkins
LOOKING WITHIN: When will I take a quiet moment today to pray about
and meditate on the words of the Lord? Have I taken the time to know my
heavenly Father?
Father, I open my heart to you, and I give my life to you. I ask that I come
to know you and your will that I might witness and serve better and more
faithfully.
