Fellowship In Love
READ: John 13:33-35
KEY VERSE: “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love
for one another.” –John 13:35 (NKJV)
In the early Church, being a Christian came complete with a lifetime
membership in the powerful fellowship of believers. Christians did not
worship in isolation. Rather, they chose fellowship because Jesus mandated
that they be bound together by their love for one another.
Instead of separating because of theological, cultural or linguistic differences,
they chose to love one another, to eat with one another, to serve one another,
and to live alongside one another so the world could come to understand
more fully who Jesus is.
In the modern Church, we have the same opportunity for fellowship as we
strive to show the world who Jesus is. Disputes over everything from the
size of the church building, to the ordination of women, to how to properly
interpret Scripture should not be strong enough to break our bond of love for
one another. –Minister Jaimie Crumley
LOOKING WITHIN: Am I living up to the call placed on my life to be in
fellowship with believers? What can I do today to show others that, in spite of
our differences, my bond of love with them remains unbroken?
Lord, I seek to be in fellowship with you and fellow Christians. Help my
love to be greater than my will to be right. Mold me into an instrument of
your love. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
