following social needs for the town:<br />
− Encourage more use of <strong>Council</strong> recreation reserves<br />
− Improved lighting in parks and car parks<br />
− Ongoing building of links between different cultures<br />
− Improved employment for different cultures<br />
− Drug and sex education to be encouraged in schools and in community setting<br />
− Welcome evenings for new residents of the town<br />
− Swimming pool needs to stay affordable<br />
− Improved collaboration and cooperation between services<br />
− Leadership program for youth<br />
− Skate park for <strong>Cobram</strong><br />
− Improved men’s health programs<br />
− Maintain community health services<br />
− Increased mental health services<br />
− Engage with older people more<br />
− Continue to ensure <strong>Cobram</strong> has adequate aged care / bed numbers<br />
− Walking tracks<br />
− New residents kits<br />
− Public transport<br />
− Accessible facilities<br />
− Café / restaurant on the foreshore at Thompson’s beach<br />
− Increased job opportunities<br />
In addition to the above, some further needs were identified as part of the <strong>Cobram</strong><br />
Urban Design Framework 2005, including:<br />
− Accentuate <strong>Cobram</strong> as a tourist/visitor destination, particularly as a riverside<br />
town<br />
− Enhance the quality of experience of moving into and around <strong>Cobram</strong><br />
− Improve the linkages between different parts of town<br />
− Provide a place that feels like a “centre” of town<br />
− Create a town and beach walk<br />
− Establish Federation Park and Settlement Square<br />
− Improve town signage<br />
− Enhance the quality of streetscapes and intersections<br />
10.3 Anticipated Trends<br />
It is anticipated that as the population increases and more areas of <strong>Cobram</strong> are<br />
developed for various land use activities, the demand for a range of community<br />
