E.1. Introduction<br />
Landscaping in <strong>Coronado</strong>’s commercial<br />
areas should achieve three specific ends:<br />
1) beautify the area and create a pedestrian<br />
oasis; 2) s<strong>of</strong>ten commercial development;<br />
and, 3) unify the area as a pleasant<br />
environment for residents and visitors<br />
alike. <strong>The</strong>se three ends will be accomplished<br />
by a recognizable use <strong>of</strong> repeated<br />
planting treatments. Consistency and<br />
continuity within the street right-<strong>of</strong>-way<br />
and building setback areas are extremely<br />
important.<br />
D.5. Color<br />
Color can dramatically affect the appearance<br />
<strong>of</strong> buildings and should be carefully<br />
considered in relation to the overall<br />
design <strong>of</strong> the building. Color can also<br />
affect the apparent scale and proportion<br />
