John Wilson is the Director of Bands at Raymore-Peculiar High School in Peculiar, <strong>Missouri</strong>. His<br />
degrees are from Southwest Baptist University (BME) and University of Central <strong>Missouri</strong> (MSE-<br />
Secondary School Administration). Mr. Wilson has been teaching at Raymore-Peculiar since<br />
the fall of 2008. The Symphonic Band’s performance is the first high school performing group<br />
to perform at MMEA from Raymore-Peculiar. Mr. Wilson directs the one hundred seventy five<br />
member Panther Pride Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Pep Band, Jazz Ensemble and assists<br />
at Raymore-Peculiar East Middle School with Dillon Jarrett and Bridle Ridge Intermediate School<br />
with Jennifer Gibson.<br />
Mr. Wilson began his teaching career in Pleasant Hope, <strong>Missouri</strong>. He credits Gene Kirkham at<br />
Jefferson City High School for teaching him how to be a band director while he was an assistant<br />
from 1990-1996. Mr. Wilson was Director of Bands at Raytown High School for ten years before<br />
accepting the position at Raymore-Peculiar.<br />
Mr. Wilson holds memberships in <strong>Missouri</strong> <strong>Music</strong> <strong>Educators</strong> <strong>Association</strong>, <strong>Missouri</strong> Bandmasters<br />
<strong>Association</strong>, Phi Beta MU, and <strong>Missouri</strong> State Teachers <strong>Association</strong>. Mr. Wilson is active in the<br />
orchestra at First Baptist Church of Raytown. He and his family reside in Kansas City, <strong>Missouri</strong>.<br />
His son Nicolas is a junior French horn player in the Symphonic Band and his daughter Whitney<br />
will graduate from Southeast <strong>Missouri</strong> State University this spring with a double major in Graphic<br />
Design and Photography.<br />
