Paul Copenhaver was band director in the Moberly Public Schools for 33 years,<br />

retiring in 2006. He currently teaches band at St. Pius X School in Moberly, and is<br />

Assistant Conductor of the Columbia [MO] Community Band. He has served as<br />

a conductor for many all-conference and all-district bands, as a clinician at various<br />

state, regional, and national conferences, and has a number of published articles in<br />

professional journals and magazines.<br />

He served as Chairperson of the <strong>Missouri</strong> All-State Band [1990-1992], and as President<br />

of the <strong>Missouri</strong> Bandmasters <strong>Association</strong> [1992-1994]. He was Northeast <strong>Missouri</strong><br />

<strong>Music</strong> <strong>Educators</strong> <strong>Association</strong> Band Vice-President from 1978-2003, and NEMMEA<br />

President from 2004-2006. He served as President of the <strong>Missouri</strong> <strong>Music</strong> <strong>Educators</strong><br />

<strong>Association</strong> [2008-2010], and is currently Past President of MMEA.<br />

He has judged bands in <strong>Missouri</strong>, Illinois, Kansas, Iowa, Indiana, and Ohio. He<br />

received the NFHS [National Federation of High School <strong>Association</strong>s] Outstanding<br />

<strong>Music</strong> Educator Award in 2005, and NFHS Section V Outstanding <strong>Music</strong> Educator<br />

Award in 2006, and was elected to the <strong>Missouri</strong> Bandmasters Hall of Fame in 2010.<br />

Mr. Copenhaver is a charter member of the International Trumpet Guild, a member of<br />

the <strong>Missouri</strong> <strong>Music</strong> <strong>Educators</strong> <strong>Association</strong> [MMEA/MENC}, <strong>Missouri</strong> Bandmasters<br />

<strong>Association</strong>, National Catholic Band <strong>Association</strong>, NFHS <strong>Music</strong> <strong>Association</strong>, and<br />

National Education <strong>Association</strong>. He plays trumpet with the Harmonium Brass,<br />

ShowMe Brass Band, and Columbia Community Band.<br />

the MSHSAA Certified Adjudicators List to judge at the MSHSAA Instrumental <strong>Music</strong> Festivals.<br />

Sandy Cordes, Past President of the <strong>Missouri</strong> Choral Directors <strong>Association</strong>, is<br />

retired from thirty-four years of public school teaching in <strong>Missouri</strong>. Mrs. Cordes is<br />

currently the Director of <strong>Music</strong> at Calvary Episcopal Church, the Sedalia Chorale, the<br />

Sedalia Messiah Chorus and maintains a private voice studio “The Vocal Connection”<br />

in Sedalia where she teaches over 30 singers. Besides these duties Mrs. Cordes is<br />

presently serving as a clinician and adjudicator for various festivals and honor choirs<br />

in the Mid-West and the United States. Mrs. Cordes’ honors include: Outstanding<br />

Educator for the Sedalia School District #200; Finalist for the <strong>Missouri</strong> Teacher of<br />

the Year; Outstanding <strong>Music</strong> Alumni from CMSU; Who’s Who Among American<br />

Teachers; Most Influential Teacher Award presented by the UM-C; Outstanding <strong>Music</strong><br />

Educator Award presented by NFHS 2004, Section 5. Professional memberships<br />

include: ACDA, MENC, MMEA, Delta Kappa Gamma <strong>Association</strong>, and most recently<br />

presented the Luther T. Spayde Award from the <strong>Missouri</strong> Choral Directors <strong>Association</strong>.<br />
