Mark Lawley is the Director of <strong>Music</strong> Education at Drury University. He has taught<br />

all levels of music from elementary through university including both instrumental<br />

and vocal music. His choirs have given invitational performances for National ACDA,<br />

National MENC, Regional ACDA, and MMEA. He is the Artistic Director of the Boys<br />

Choir of Springfield and Director of <strong>Music</strong> at Covenant Presbyterian. Lawley made<br />

his Carnegie conducting debut in May of 2011. He maintains an active speaking,<br />

guest conducting, and adjudicating schedule. He currently serves as the Repertoire<br />

and Standards Chair for Southwestern American Choral Directors <strong>Association</strong>.<br />

Lawley conducted the Springfield Mid America Singers for 5 seasons from 2003 –<br />

2008. He is Past President of both the <strong>Missouri</strong> Choral Directors <strong>Association</strong> and<br />

South Central <strong>Missouri</strong> <strong>Music</strong> <strong>Educators</strong> <strong>Association</strong>. He earned his undergraduate<br />

degree and certificate recital award in piano at Evangel University and a Master of<br />

<strong>Music</strong> degree in conducting.<br />

“All We Need Is Love (Part 2)” (p.41)<br />

An extension of the session given in 2011,this session will focus on the practical application of love in the<br />

choral rehearsal. Practical application including a reading session will be offered to attendees.<br />

Steve Litwiller is in his 28th year as director of bands for the Boonville Public Schools.<br />

Prior to that he taught K-12, Vocal and Instrumental <strong>Music</strong> for Leeton Public Schools<br />

and Band 5-12 for Gallatin Public Schools. He serves as MMEA Mentoring Chair.<br />

“Ideas, Resources and Networking for New <strong>Music</strong> <strong>Educators</strong>” (p.23)<br />

This clinic is designed for teachers new to the profession to network with successful music educators<br />

and build knowledge and skills. Topics such as classroom management, repertoire, festival preparation,<br />

public relations, and professional development will be discussed. The clinic will include presentations by<br />

successful vocal, instrumental, and general music instructors.<br />

Philip K. Martin currently teaches music (Band, Guitar, <strong>Music</strong> Theory and World<br />

Percussion classes) at Campbell High School in Litchfield, NH. Previous to that<br />

he taught in the Concord, Londonderry, Gilford and Belmont (NH) schools where<br />

he conducted orchestra, jazz band, concert band, chamber and concert choir. His<br />

students have performed and received Superior and Outstanding ratings in festivals<br />

and competitions in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania,<br />

Virginia, Washington, and Florida. Graduating from Keene State College in 1976,<br />

he received his Bachelors in <strong>Music</strong> Education, and received his Masters Degree<br />

in <strong>Music</strong> Education from UNH in 1985. He served for 10 years as All-State Band<br />

Chairperson before being elected as President of the New Hampshire <strong>Music</strong><br />

<strong>Educators</strong> <strong>Association</strong>. From 2001 to 2003 Martin served as the NAfME Eastern<br />

Division President. In September of 2005 Martin was named “NH Star Teacher of<br />

the Year” by the United States Department of Education for his work in assessment<br />

and student achievement. The NH <strong>Music</strong> <strong>Educators</strong> <strong>Association</strong> named him their<br />

“2006 Distinguished Educator of the Year”. In 2008 Martin was the first recipient of<br />

Keene State College’s Department of <strong>Music</strong> “Distinguished Alumni” Award. He was<br />

a core member of the task force for the NH Department of Education writing the<br />

Frameworks for the Arts in NH. For twelve years he represented NH at the SCASS<br />

(State Collaborative on Assessment and Student Standards) Arts meetings working<br />

with Department of Education Arts and Assessment personnel from around the<br />

country. Currently, he is the National TRI-M Chair for NAfME while concurrently<br />

serving as the National Band chairperson for the NAfME Band Council.<br />
