Dr. Arthur White is the director of jazz studies and assistant professor of music at the University<br />
of <strong>Missouri</strong>. Originally from Kansas, Dr. White holds degrees from Emporia State University<br />
(KS), West Virginia University, and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. White is the<br />
producer and director of the MU Concert Jazz Band CDs Vertigo: the <strong>Music</strong> of Mike Mainieri (2010),<br />
which was hailed by allaboutjazz.com as “a splendid maiden voyage,” and Tunnel Vision (2011),<br />
referred to by the Columbia Tribune as “engaging, eclectic, and extroverted….a source of delight.”<br />
MU jazz ensembles under Dr. White’s direction have been selected to perform at conferences<br />
for the Jazz Education Network, International Society for Improvised <strong>Music</strong>, and <strong>Missouri</strong> <strong>Music</strong><br />
<strong>Educators</strong> <strong>Association</strong>. Dr. White has recorded with Fred Wesley, Chris Murrell, Scott Wendholt,<br />
Mike Mainieri, Bobby Watson, Henry Johnson, Robin Eubanks, Russell Malone, Mike Metheny,<br />
and jazz legend Dewey Redman. White has arranged music for jazz luminaries Mike Mainieri,<br />
Peter Erskine, Eric Person, Mulgrew Miller, Kevin Mahogany, Henry Johnson, Dewey Redman,<br />
Scott Wendholt, Bobby Watson, Bob Mintzer, Robin Eubanks, Kathy Kosins, Paul Hanson, Russell<br />
Malone, Bob Sheppard, Andy Narell, and Randy Brecker. Several of Dr. White’s arrangements are<br />
published through Second Floor <strong>Music</strong>.<br />
