BIRDS ARE SILENT IN THE FOREST
18 min. 2007 Belgium (filmed in Belgium and Germany)
A man relieves his night-time job as a warehouseman with his greatest passion: hunting. But
sometimes nature can be tough and unpredictable. This is a film about loneliness, the craving
for dominance and the search for a meaningful interpretation of our existence.
LINNUD METSAS ON VAIT
Autor Tim De Keersmaecker
Tim De Keersmaeckeri film maalib portree laohoidjast, kelle hing on kaugel metsas. Esimesel
võimalusel haarab ta püssi ning sõidab metsa jahile. Sõnatu film üksindusest ja inimeksistentsi
mõttekusest/mõttetusest.
BLACKSMITH’S ANVIL
10 min. 2008 UK
Noise is quite a recent phenomenon in human history.
Blacksmith’s anvil is a mystical means to create tools, weapons, instruments... and music...
The sound source is not found easily but it sounds far and extends...
SEPA ALASI
Müra on inimajaloos üsna hiljutine nähtus.
Sepa alasi on üks müstiline koht, millelt on võrsunud nii tööriistad, relvad kui ka muusika...
Heli allikat pole lihtne kindlaks teha, kuid heli kandub kaugele...
CONCRETE
67 min. 2007 Iceland (filmed in Iceland, Germany, UK, Belgium, USA)
Artists born between 1967 and 1976, working in their hometown Reykjavík and abroad share
the diverse processes that spark their work of art, with the viewers.
They like to use all kinds of stuff from empty bottles to human body. Threading a line between
realism and performance, the film explores inspiration and creativity through intimate two-year
collaboration with seven artists, providing an insight into a booming scene.
Among the interviewees, involved in or familiar with the Icelandic art scene are the curators
Hans Ulrich Obrist and Gregory Volk, the musician Bjork, and the artist Roni Horn.
The title, STEYPA (Concrete), is borrowed from the artworks by one of the participating artists.
It literally means “concrete” and is Ásmundur’s favorite sculpture material but it is also a word
used in Icelandic for weird stuff or jargon.
BETOON
Autorid Markús Thór Andrésson ja Ragnheidur Gestsdóttir
Markús Thór Andréssoni ja Ragnheidur Gestsdóttiri dokfilm annab uhke ülevaate kaasaegsest
islandi kunstist, kus kindla koha on sisse võtnud 1967-1976-aastatel sündinud põlvkond. Filmi
pealkiri on võetud skulptor Asmunduri lemmikmaterjalist, mis islandikeelses žargoonis tähendab
ka ‘veider värk’. Islandi kujutava kunsti uus põlvkond armastab kasutada moodsaid materjale
alates tühjadest pudelitest kuni kunstniku enese kehani. Film ei piirdu vaid ekstreemkunsti
esitlemisega, oma sõna saavad sekka öelda ka saareriigi tuntud muusikud Olafur Björn Olafsson
ja Björk.
