Since the first festival in 1987, our tradition has been to visit islanders in Manija and Kihnu. The bare land of Manija was inhabited by settlers from Kihnu in 1933. This year they celebrate the 75th anniversary of the history of their native land amongst the sea. One of those who carries on the skills of traditional Kihnu handicraft is Vilma Havik, the housewife of Tooma farm. The indigenous Kihnu culture was included into the UNESCO’s list of intangible and oral masterpieces of mankind in 2003. Alates esimesest festivalist 1987.aastal on meil olnud traditsiooniks käia külas Kihnus ja Manijal. Lageda Manija saare asustasid kihnlased 1933.aastal, seega saavad manijalased sel aastal tähistada oma saare ajaloo 75-ndat aastapäeva. Üks neist, kes annab edasi kihnu käsitöö oskusi, on Tooma talu perenaine Vilma Havik. Kihnu pärimuskultuur võeti UNESCO suulise ja vaimse kultuuri nimistusse 2003. aastal. 48
