2. The spare pool members must be eligible players from the Sport Region in which the<br />
Provincial Championship is being hosted.<br />
REPLACEMENT PLAYERS<br />
1. Upon moving to another level, a team may be permitted to replace a player, should a<br />
player be unable to play due to extenuating circumstances (injury, illness,<br />
employment, coaching at another sanctioned event, etc.). A replacement player<br />
becomes a permanent registered member of the team and may play any position.<br />
The replacement player must meet all eligibility rules of the competition and must<br />
have done so prior to the commencement of the competition in which the team<br />
qualified. The replacement is required to purchase a CCA Competitor‟s Card.<br />
<strong>Curl<strong>Manitoba</strong></strong> office must be advised in writing of any replacement. A team with a<br />
replacement player must be comprised of at least 3 of the 4 (or 5) original players.<br />
MIXED<br />
1. Mixed Teams may name a Fifth & Sixth Player – one of each gender, for the<br />
Provincial Championship. All Fifth & Sixth Players must purchase a CCA Competitor<br />
Card prior to the beginning of the championship.<br />
2. If a player in any berth bonspiel or provincial championship is unable to continue to<br />
play due to illness or other extenuating circumstance, after the game commences,<br />
the team may continue to play any end already commenced with three players. Any<br />
stone yet to be thrown by the absent player in that end will be thrown by the<br />
remaining player of the same gender. Upon completion of the end fifth/sixth or a<br />
spare from the spare pool may be used. If for any reason a spare is not available,<br />
the team may continue with three players. The first two players will each throw three<br />
stones for the remainder of the game or until such time as a spare is available. The<br />
throwing sequence must continue to alternate as to gender.<br />
(i.e. if a female third is unable to continue the male second shall throw the first<br />
three stones, the female lead shall throw the next three stones and the male skip<br />
shall throw the final two stones.)<br />
3. In all cases, a replacement shall be of the same gender as the absent player.<br />
