innovative ways.
Gegründet 1880 von Bürgern der Stadt, setzt
sich die Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg seither
als privater gemeinnütziger Verein mit
der Person und dem Werk Mozarts auseinander. Mit
den Aktivitäten in drei Kernbereichen – Konzerte,
Wissenschaft, Museen – und ihren internationalen
Projekten ist sie das anerkannte Kompetenzzentrum
in Sachen Mozart. Seit 1956 setzt sie zudem jeweils
rund um Mozarts Geburtstag am 27. Jänner mit der
„Mozartwoche“ einen künstlerischen Akzent im
internationalen Konzertleben.
Das 101 Jahre alte Mozarteum-Gebäude beherbergt
sowohl Räumlichkeiten der Universität
Mozarteum als auch die Büroräume der Stiftung
Mozarteum sowie die Bibliotheca Mozartiana und
zwei Konzertsäle. Prunkstück des prachtvollen Großen
Saals im Stil des Münchner Späthistorismus mit
Elementen des Jugendstils ist die 1914 erbaute und
Wunderbarer Veranstaltungsort: der
Große Saal der Stiftung Mozarteum.

2010 erneuerte große Propter Homines Konzertorgel.
Die Saisonkonzerte der Stiftung Mozarteum
werden von November bis Juni angeboten, heuer mit
zentralen Werken der Kammermusik. Im Sommer
bespielen dann die Salzburger Festspiele den großen
Mozarteum-Saal. Eine weitere wichtige Aufgabe der
Stiftung ist die Erhaltung der Mozart-Museen.
Mozarts Geburtshaus in der Altstadt zählt übrigens
zu den am meisten besuchten Museen der Welt. Auf
drei Stockwerken werden dort Details aus Mozarts
Zeit und Leben präsentiert. Es ist ein Verdienst der
Stiftung, dass das 1944 zerstörte Mozart-Wohnhaus
am Makartplatz 1996 wieder in seiner ursprünglichen
Form errichtet wurde. Heute ist es ebenfalls
ein Museum, das u. a. Mozarts originales Hammerklavier
zeigt. Kaufmännischer Geschäftsführer und
künstlerischer Leiter der Stiftung Mozarteum ist seit
2012 Matthias Schulz. Mozart immer wieder neu er-

lebbar zu machen, so lautet sein Motto. Das unter
seiner Ägide eingeführte Festival Dialoge machte im
Vorjahr vielfältigen Austausch möglich. Besonders
die Idee, starre Konzertformate aufzu brechen und
„Dialoge“ in einem umfassenderen Rahmen entstehen
zu lassen, wird auch heuer vom 25. bis 29. November
begeisterten Zuspruch finden.
The Mozarteum Foundation Salzburg is a public
charity and has focussed on Wolfgang
Amadeus Mozart’s life and work ever since it
was founded in 1880 by its townspeople. It is the recognised
centre of competence in all things Mozart
thanks to its activities in three main areas – concerts,
science, museums – and their international projects.
The Mozart Week, which it has been hosting every
January since 1956 around his birthday on 27th January,
has become a part of the international concert
calendar.
The 101 year-old Mozarteum building houses the
Mozarteum University as well as the Mozarteum
Foundation’s office and the Bibliotheca Mozartiana
and two concert halls. The showpiece of the magnificent
great hall, built in the style of late Munich historism,
is the large Propter Homines Organ built in
1914 and restored in 2010. The Foundation’s concert
season runs from November to June, concentrating
nowadays on the main chamber music pieces. The
Salzburg Festival uses the large hall for its concerts in
summer. Another important task of the Foundation
is to maintain the Mozart Museums. The house where
Mozart was born, in the old part of town, is one of
the most visited museums in the world. Visitors can
see particulars from Mozart’s time and life on three
floors. Thanks to the Foundation, Mozart’s residence
at Makartplatz 166, which was destroyed in 1944,
was rebuilt to its original state. Today, the museum
also showcases Mozart’s original fortepiano.
Matthias Schulz has been the commercial and artistic
director of the Mozarteum Foundation since
2012. Its objective is to keep making Mozart a new
experience. Last year, the Dialogue Festival, established
under his patronage, presented exchange in a
number of different ways. It became clear that the
idea to break with rigid concert formats and to establish
an opportunity for “dialogues” within a comprehensive
framework can find an enthusiastic audience,
and that goes for the next concerts from 25 to
29 November.

Neben Mozart im Mittelpunkt werden
vom 22. bis 31. Jänner 2016 Mendelssohn
Bartholdy und das bewegende Werk von
Henri Dutilleux den Weg weisen. Große
Chor- und Orchesterwerke spielen dabei
eine zentrale Rolle. International
renommierte Solisten, Orchester und
Ensembles werden zu erleben sein, u. a.
Sir András Schiff, Mitsuko Uchida, Radu
Lupu, Katia und Marielle Labèque, Fazil
Say (im Bild oben), Alexander Melnikow
am Klavier oder Nikolaus Harnoncourt,
Sir John Eliot Gardener und Marc
Minkowski am Dirigentenpult. Unter den
Orchestern: die Wiener Philharmoniker,
Les Musiciens du Louvre Grenoble oder
das Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
Apart from focussing on Mozart,
Mendelssohn Bartholdy and the moving
work by Henri Dutilleux will also be
setting the scene from 22 to 31 January
2016. Large choir and orchestral works
will play a central role. World-famous
soloists, orchestras and ensembles will
be playing, incl. Sir András Schiff,
Mitsuko Uchida, Radu Lupu, Katia and
Marielle Labèque, Fazil Say (see above)
or Alexander Melnikov on the piano or
Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Sir John Eliot
Gardener and Marc Minkowski at the
conductor’s stand. Orchestras include:

the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
