and exciting interactive exhibits.
Nearly a thousand species and 11
hectares to explore.
Margaret Island

Close to the city center and set
in the middle of the Danube,
Margaret Island has ample green
space for a fun day out as well
as a small petting zoo on its
eastern edge, which is home to
domesticated and wild mammals
as well as an assortment birds,
including the resident peacock.

Tropicarium

One of the largest sea aquariums
in Central Europe is situated
deep in South Buda. It holds
eight sharks, including sand
tiger and leopard sharks as well
as hundreds of other species
viewable through an observation
tunnel. Come face to face
with a Mississippi alligator
or visit the Tropicarium’s
smaller inhabitants such as the
marmosets, snakes, lizards, exotic
birds and insects.

Located in City Park, right next
to the zoo, the Budapest Circus
has shows throughout the year
in a permanent space, which
has been designed to resemble
a traditional circus tent. All the
standard circus fare is featured
in the program from animal
shows, to magicians and acrobatic
performance.

A choice venue for classical
concerts, the MUPA is also a
wonderful place to introduce
children to classical music in a
child-friendly and interactive
format. Half-hour Baby Concerts
are suitable for 0-12 month olds
while the MUS-E series for older
children features elements of
dance, theatre and visual arts.

Railway Museum
Vasúttörténeti Park
(XIV. Tatai út 95;

The perfect diversion for little
boys, the Railway Museum has a
wonderful assortment of vintage
trains and steam engines, many
of which are stored in an original
roundhouse built in 1911. Hop on
board stationary trains or go for a
virtual test drive in a Hungarian
railway engine. Closed for the
winter season.
