n art gallery is usually a good place to get
an impression of a local art scene, but it’s
seldom enough to really experience the essence
of the artist. On this tour you can move beyond
the city’s galleries and into the private studios
of some of Hungary’s most compelling artists.
You may even be fortunate enough to watch
the artists as they work, or enjoy an inspiring
conversation about their creative process.
For collectors who prefer less conventional
works, Attila Szűcs’s studio is a good place to
start. Szűcs’s paintings challenge conventional
perception and border on disturbing, yet are
beautifully executed. Planking, in which a
subject lies face down in a plank position, is
a recurring theme in Szűcs’s latest paintings
and is also the inspiration behind his recent
deviation into the world of sculpture.
