THE SABBATH IN THE OTHER EPISTLES<br />
In that He says, “a <strong>New</strong> <strong>Covenant</strong>,” He has made <strong>the</strong><br />
first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and<br />
growing old is ready to vanish away. Heb. 8:13<br />
And for this reason He is <strong>the</strong> Mediator of <strong>the</strong> <strong>New</strong><br />
<strong>Covenant</strong>, <strong>by</strong> means of death, for <strong>the</strong> redemption of <strong>the</strong><br />
transgressions under <strong>the</strong> first covenant, that those who<br />
are called may receive <strong>the</strong> promise of eternal<br />
inheritance. Heb. 9:15<br />
For <strong>the</strong> law, having a shadow of <strong>the</strong> good things to<br />
come, and not <strong>the</strong> very image of <strong>the</strong> things, can never<br />
with <strong>the</strong>se same sacrifices, which <strong>the</strong>y offer<br />
continually year <strong>by</strong> year, make those who approach<br />
perfect. Heb. 10:1<br />
. . . He takes away <strong>the</strong> first that He may establish <strong>the</strong><br />
second. Heb. 10:9<br />
The more I read <strong>the</strong> book of Hebrews, <strong>the</strong> more I<br />
started to see <strong>the</strong> “Magic Eye” picture I had missed before.<br />
Suddenly passages that I had never understood before<br />
became clear to me. I was seeing through new glasses. I<br />
had always studied <strong>the</strong> Scriptures with Old <strong>Covenant</strong><br />
glasses on. Now that I was reading it with <strong>New</strong> <strong>Covenant</strong><br />
glasses, I was seeing a whole new picture. I began to feel<br />
embarrassed that I had never seen it before. It was as if a<br />
veil had fallen from my eyes. I discovered at my next stop<br />
that this is precisely what had happened. Notice II<br />
Corinthians 3 with me, starting with <strong>the</strong> last phrase of verse<br />
five.<br />
. . .our sufficiency is from God, who also made us<br />
sufficient as ministers of <strong>the</strong> new covenant, not of <strong>the</strong><br />
letter, but of <strong>the</strong> Spirit; for <strong>the</strong> letter kills but <strong>the</strong> Spirit<br />
