City Multi ® Variable Refrigerant Flow Hvac Systems
The HVAC Division of Mitsubishi
Electric Sales Canada, Inc.,
headquartered in Markham, Ont.,
has launched its new CITY
MULTI® series. This is a variable
refrigerant flow zoning (VRFZ)
system featuring inverter
compressor technology and
simultaneous cooling and heating,
according to Anton Wolmarans,
General Manager HVAC Division.
Mitsubishi Electric has been
manufacturing CITY MULTI
VRFZ systems for nearly 20
years," said Anton. "For hospitals,
multi-level office buildings and
hotels around the world, this
technology has proven to be more
energy efficient and provides a
higher degree of comfort than
traditional systems currently on the
market in Canada.
"CITY MULTI VRFZ systems are
ideal for various applications
because they allow building
owners to provide each individual
space with its own personalized,
zoned comfort system and realize
energy savings in the process,"
Anton added.
The key to comfort, he explained,
is Mitsubishi Electric's inverter
technology, which includes a
variable speed compressor for
precise comfort control. The
inverter technology varies the
speed of the compressor to deliver
the exact amount of cooling or
heating demanded by each zone. In
fact, the layout of CITY MULTI
VRFZ systems allows users to cool
and/or heat only the spaces
occupied, while saving valuable
resources that would otherwise be
wasted by conditioning air in
unoccupied spaces.
This unique zoning characteristic
maintains a constant and
comfortable indoor environment.
The CITY MULTI VRFZ system is
a fully integrated system with the
MELANS DDC control system
tying together the outdoor unit, the
branch circuit (BC) controller, the
indoor units, and the remote and
central controllers. MELANS
stands for Mitsubishi Electric Air
Conditioning Network System.
Gateway units are also available
for use with industry leading BMS
systems.
Four different Series CITY MULTI
systems are offered:
The S-Series: For large homes and
small offices an 50,000 BTU
condensing unit with up to 8
connectable indoor units are
available.
The Y-Series: For larger offices
and commercial applications an
80,000 BTU condensing unit with
up to 13 connectable indoor units and
a 100,000 BTU condensing unit
with up to16 connectable indoor units
available.
R2 Series: Allows for heat
recovery and simultaneous cooling
and heating operation of connected
indoor units, an 80,000 Btu/h unit
with up to 15 connectable indoor
units; or a 100,000 Btu/h unit with
up to 16 connectable indoor units
are available.
Wr2 Water Cooled Series:
Allows simultaneous cooling and
heating operation of connected
indoor units, an 80,000 Btu/h unit
with up to 15 connectable indoor
units; or a 100,000 Btu/h unit with
up to 16 connectable indoor units
are available. Double heat recovery
is made possible in both the
refrigerant and the Water Circuit
with the Wr2
All systems can use ducted or
ductless indoor units.
Each indoor unit has a linear
electronic expansion valve that
enables the indoor units to operate
with variable capacity, adding to
the overall system efficiency.
Multiple controller options for
remote or central operation of the
individual indoor units or the
entire system are also offered.
S-SERIES
The Complete Solution............
Connect up tp 8 Indoor units to 1 outdoor unit.
Individual indoor unit zone control.
Inverter compressor control technology.
Compressor Capacity control 8% to 108%.
Indoor Capacity Control 25% to 100% by LEV.
Network controls included.
Easy Installation, only 2 small diameter pipes.
Quietest operation.
Fresh Air can be Supplied to indoor unit mixing chamber.
ERV and HRV compatible.
Air-condition areas that are impossible to reach
with other systems.
Environments
According to Anton, heat recovery
and simultaneous cooling and
heating operation is made possible
when using the R2 and Wr2
systems through the use of the BC
controller, which redirects
refrigerant flow between the
indoor units and the outdoor unit.
"We've taken Mitsubishi Electric's
microchip technology expertise
and applied it to the HVAC needs
of Canadian buildings, " said
Anton. "The solution is a smarter,
more efficient cooling and heating
system for today's indoor
environments and be sure to see it
Air-conditioning Systems
City Multi S-Series
The Air-Conditioning And Fresh
Air Solution For Buildings With
Radiant Floor Heating Systems.
Underfloor radiant heating products have
been an ever-growing force in the highend
custom home market. The economics
of the product, as well as it’s flexibility in
applications, have helped increase
demand for this heating technology. These
systems are quiet, reliable and create the
most comfortable environments
imaginable.
Homes with underfloor radiant heating
systems typically do not have central
forced-air heating systems with duct work
that carries air to rooms throughout the
house.
This creates special considerations when
selecting an air-conditioning system that
will create the same reliability,comfort
and quiet operation as the underfloor
radiant heating system.
Fortunately, Mitsubishi Electric has the
answer, the City Multi S-Series Air-
Conditioning System.
