He has an extensive broadcast history thatincludes 18 seasons as a Major League Baseball play-by-playannouncer. In <strong>2012</strong> he handled the play-by-play for the NewYork Mets’ radio broadcasts on WFAN. Lewin has broadcastregular and postseason baseball, NFL football and NHLgames for FOX Sports since 1996 and from 2002-10, he wasthe play-by-play announcer for the Texas Rangers. Lewin alsocalled Baltimore Orioles on radio from 1995-96, ChicagoCubs games on WGN-TV in 1997 and Detroit Tigers’ gameson Fox Sports Net Detroit from 1998-01. His NFL experiencealso includes play-by-play on SportsUSA Radio. Lewin’s otherbroadcast experience includes Conference USA Football,CCHA Hockey, Southern Methodist and Michigan State basketball,and the Big 12 Basketball Tournament. Lewin beganhis broadcasting career at the age of 16 with the RochesterRed Wings, the Baltimore Orioles’ AAA affiliate in the InternationalLeague. In 1994, he was the sports director at WBAL,the Orioles’ flagship station. Lewin graduated from Northwesternin 1990 and has written two books, “Getting in theGame” and “You Never Forget Your First.” Lewin has two children,daughter, Kelsey, and son, Coby.HANK BAUERBauer, a former <strong>Chargers</strong> running back, special teams captainand coach, handles color commentary on the team’sradio broadcasts. He will participate in his 500th career gamewith the organization as a player, coach and broadcasterwhen the <strong>Chargers</strong> meet the Atlanta Falcons on Sept. 23,<strong>2012</strong>. Bauer played for the <strong>Chargers</strong> for seven seasons. Hewas chosen as one of the 50 Greatest <strong>Chargers</strong> of All-Time in2009, and is also a member of the <strong>Chargers</strong> 40th AnniversaryAll-Time Team. Bauer was a team captain, who was votedMost Inspirational Player in 1978 and Special Teams Player ofthe Year in 1980 and ’81. He scored 21 touchdowns duringhis career and set an NFL single-season record with 52 specialteams tackles in 1981. A broken neck ended his career in1983. Following his retirement, Bauer spent four seasons(1983-86) as the <strong>Chargers</strong>’ running backs and special teamscoach. In 1987, he accepted a job as a sports anchor at News8 in San Diego and remained there until 2003. Bauer graduatedcum laude from California Lutheran University in 1976with a degree in physical education. In September 2003, hewas inducted into Cal Lutheran’s first Hall of Fame class.MEDIA GUIDE | 278
