Wick worked as an equipment assistantwith the San Diego Clippers from 1978-80, and is the equipmentliaison for the Holiday and Poinsettia Bowls, which areboth played in Qualcomm Stadium. He also has worked the2007, ’08 and ’10 Pro Bowls.Wick was born in San Diego and graduated from Mt.Miguel High School in 1978. He earned an associate degreein business administration from Grossmont College in 1981and studied finance at San Diego State from 1982-85.Wick is an avid collector of sports memorabilia. He and hiswife, Debbie, have two daughters, Chloe and Courtney, and ason, Robert. Wick is a former coach and board member forScripps Ranch Softball. He also representsthe organization at all NFL and ownership meetings.Spanos was named executive vice president–chief executiveofficer in July 2011 after serving five seasons as theteam’s director of marketing programs and business development(2003-07) and three as its executive vice president—executive officer (2008-10).Key among his many priorities, Spanos has spearheadedseveral initiatives to create more value for season ticket holders.To reward and thank the <strong>Chargers</strong>’ most loyal customersthat he refers to as the team’s “life’s blood,” Spanos createdthe most attractive list of benefits ever available, includingexclusive events with the team at Training Camp and QualcommStadium, behind-the-scenes tours, and once-in-a-lifetimeprize packages and opportunities.Spanos also works diligently with the team’s customer service,stadium and security partners to enhance the <strong>Chargers</strong>fans’ game-day experience and the team’s Fan Conduct Program.Fan behavior is a strategic priority for the NFL and the<strong>Chargers</strong> organization. During the NFL’s unannounced stadiumsecurity checks of all 32 venues last season, the <strong>Chargers</strong> hadthe most outstanding review and ranked first among all teamsin the League’s “Fan Conduct Best Practices” audit in 2011.In an effort to quench <strong>Chargers</strong> fans unending thirst forinformation about their team, Spanos recently created theteam’s first-ever digital media department. The departmentwill be instrumental in providing an endless supply of uniquecontent available only on the team’s official website, whileexpanding the <strong>Chargers</strong>’ social media footprint.Spanos’ decision to lower the price of 6,500 seats goinginto the 2011 season proved successful as it provided <strong>Chargers</strong>fans with more of the most affordable NFL tickets in thecountry while also easing the path to additional sellouts andlive local telecasts. Also under his direction, the team implementedits first Law Enforcement Appreciation Night at agame in 2010 and brought in internationally renowned Foreignerto perform free of charge for fans in the parking lotbefore the game.Spanos was responsible for the development and implementationof the <strong>Chargers</strong>’ new logo and marks in 2007,including new uniforms. He coordinated efforts with the stadiumconcessionaire to launch the opening of the <strong>Chargers</strong>Team Store at Qualcomm Stadium and he has worked closelywith the merchandise partners who supply the store as wellas the team’s <strong>Online</strong> Pro Shop at <strong>Chargers</strong>.com.Spanos has continued the <strong>Chargers</strong>’ long-standing traditionof community support and involvement. In 2002, Spanosfounded “<strong>Chargers</strong> Auction,” which offers official <strong>Chargers</strong>merchandise and team-worn memorabilia online and hasraised more than $530,000 for charity. A.G. has served on theExecutive Committee and the Board of Directors for the SanDiego Hall of Champions Sports Museum and a Trustee forthe San Diego Sports Commission. He also serves on theBoard of Directors for the San Diego Regional Chamber ofCommerce and the San Diego Police Foundation.Most recently in <strong>2012</strong>, A.G. accepted several communityhonors on behalf of the Spanos family and the <strong>Chargers</strong>. Heaccepted the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s Wish-GrantingPartner of the Year Award as well as the President’s MeritAward from the California State Athletic Director’s Association.The Rotary Club of San Diego also presented Spanosand the <strong>Chargers</strong> with its Heilbron Award, given to companies“that exemplify the pay it forward spirit – that give ofthemselves and their professional expertise to advance thewell-being and success of others in the community.”MEDIA GUIDE | 26
