Chapter 2: History of Psalms StudiesPsalms 3-8, is one notable group that has not been analysed in detail. Theonly research published on this group was a short essay by Joseph Brennan,“Psalms 1-8: Some Hidden Harmonies” in 1980, before most of the recentresearch into the shape of the Psalter was published. Since this small groupof psalms (i.e., Psalms 3-8) is placed at the beginning of the Book of Psalms,immediately after the introductory Psalms 1 and 2, it is time to revisit it inmicroscopic detail in the light of the advances that have taken place in psalmsresearch since 1980.65
