Chapter 3: MethodologyThe final stage (chapter 6) explores broader relationships between Psalms 3-8 in an attempt to discover whether there is any indication in biblical text ofhow this group of psalms came to be in the canonical order and what, ifanything, the communicative significance of the final order is.3.2 ResourcesThe primary resource for the exegesis is the Hebrew Old Testament asrepresented in Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia (1984). Where recourse to theSeptuagint is made, the preferred version is Rahlf’s (1979) edition. For themost part, these works are consulted via the morphologically taggedelectronic editions available in Logos Bible Software. Unless otherwiseindicated, I use Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia with Westminster 4.2Morphology (2004) for the Hebrew Bible and Rahlf’s Septuaginta withMorphology (1996) for the Septuagint. In a handful of instances, I resort toThe Hebrew Bible: Anderson-Forbes Phrase Marker Analysis (Anderson andForbes 2005), which permits more advanced searching on the Hebrew textthan the Westminster 4.2 Morphology. When a search is based on Andersonand Forbes (2005), it is noted in the study. Two kinds of secondary resources are extensively used in this stage of thestudy. The first of these are standard Old Testament lexica and dictionaries.67
