Zone12, which had a convincing win in the first round, almost cameto grief at the hands of Zone 13 before escaping with a narrow76-74 win, while Zone 10 was seemingly down and out goinginto the last end against Zone 14, only to grab a vital 6 shotsto sneak home 71-70.Defending champion Zone 16 had won its opening two gamesin fine style and appeared destined for the finals. Other 2game winners were Zones 2, 9 and 10 appeared to have theupper hand going into the crucial third round. The third roundproved fatal for several of the leading Zones, as well as somenear misses as Zone 16 comfortably won its third game toremain undefeated, as did Zone 10. Zone 5 also providedanother nail-biting finish for the day by overcoming Zone 11 ina 79-78 result. At the completion of the sectional matches, the winners toprogress through to the finals were Zone 16 with 6 points +76,Zone 12 - 6 points +21, Zone 8 - 4 points +33 and Zone 10 - 6points +40, with Zone 16 to play Zone 12 and Zone 8 upagainst Zone 10 in the semi-finals.The semi-finals saw Zone 12 oust Zone 16 (71- 61) and Zone10 overpower Zone 8 (99-67), leaving the two metro Zones tofight out the final. The elimination of Zones 8 and 16 meantthere would not be a country Zone in the final. The final was a very tight affair with nothing between the twosides as they battled for supremacy. The final was anyone’sgame after 73 ends but Zone 12 went on to claim a 75-65victory and the Inter-Zone Sides championship.2011 Bowls NSW Inter-Zone Sides Championship FinalZone 12 75 def Zone 10 65Craig Donaldson,Matt Searle, TonyJohn Churton, ChrisStokes, Michael22 defEdmonds & BrentWolter & Peter10NormanStockhamJosh Berry , PeterFoster, GlenRaymond & MathewPietersenTrent Craigie, LeeSuch, Ben Twist &Mark BerghoferMichael Clarke,Robert Dickson, PeterBelliss & BenMorthorpe17 def25 def11 lostPeter Williams, ShaunJohns, MatthewStecyk & Zeljko TrbaraDon Strickland, GarethLewis, ChrisCouchman & BrendonEdwardsMichael O'Loughlin,Keith Smith, CraigMaythers & Mick Harry141724Bowls NSW, 2011-12 Annual Report & Year Book Page 21
