updates on events and interpretations of the different aspectsof the COP.State Championship Week for <strong>2012</strong> has taken on a new lookwith the addition of the State President’s and SeniorChampionships. This will help to free up the Season Programand provide for more player involvement and greaterspectator interest. This year’s host club Soldiers Point will alsobe able to showcase its new covered green complex.Our newer events of the Rookies Singles and Pairs and the<strong>Bowls</strong> <strong>NSW</strong> Club Challenge continue to create both interestand player involvement from the bowlers of <strong>NSW</strong>. Our thanksto the Raymond Terrace and Warilla Bowling Clubs for theirexcellent hosting of these events.The SMC wishes to express its gratitude to the staff at <strong>Bowls</strong><strong>NSW</strong> for their great commitment and assistance to theCommittee in helping it to function effectively. I doubt thatmany bowlers throughout <strong>NSW</strong> would realise the amount ofcorrespondence and the number of phone calls and emailsthat are required for the Committee to attend to the needs ofbowlers throughout the State To my fellow Committeemembers, thank you for your continued commitment andperseverance.Finally it would be remiss of me not to acknowledge thepassing of past long-term SMC member Norm Chant. Normmade a great impact on bowls in <strong>NSW</strong> and epitomised whatthe SMC and bowls in general is all about. He is greatlymissed.Committee Members: John Smith (Chair) Col Crossingham Dennis Harmer John Long Bob MoranSports Coordinator: Andrew LynnState Selection CommitteeThe Keno Hi-Jackers State side played a 3-test series againstQueensland in November 2011 at the South Tweed BC with aseries win which capped off a “Year of the Blues” clean sweepfor an undefeated 2011 year. The U-25 side also defeatedQueensland in this series with a parallel clean sweep 2011year.These sides also had a 3-test series against Victoria at theWodonga BC in March <strong>2012</strong> resulting in a clean sweep forboth sides. New caps for these series were Carl Healey, RayPearse in the State side and in the U-25s Dominic Riley.The State Over-60s was unsuccessful in the Seniors Inter-StateRound Robin Series played at the Warilla and ShellharbourBCs. New caps for this series were Rex Johnston OAM, BruceAnderson and Ross Ball.The annual City vs Country was held at Cabramatta and playedon their new synthetic green. City was completely outclassedby the Country side for a series win.The annual Legends vs Turfcraftsmen game was held at DaptoCitizens BC with the Legends taking out the contest.The Training and Learning Country Tour side played gamesagainst Zone 5 at Bowral, Zone 8 at Harden and Zone 7 at LakeConjola - each game an intensely contested event. The clubsprovided first class facilities and were admirable hosts.Keen participation in the tasks set by Michael Beaumont bythe tour side was a highlight of the trip.The National Sides Championship and Super 6 Series wereheld at the Broadbeach BC in Queensland where the Keno Hi-Jackers State side was defending the Alley Shield title won in2011. The Super 6 Series was a clean sweep with <strong>NSW</strong>winning the gold medals in all three events. Our side wasunsuccessful defending the Alley Shield, finishing secondbehind Queensland. Nonetheless <strong>NSW</strong> again won the overalltrophy for the best performed state.The contribution of Col Hayward, Bryce Stewart, DaleMaitland and Neil Bayo in selection tasks is greatlyappreciated and I acknowledge their unstinting support andgenerosity here.Committee Members: Ken Oliver (Chair) Neil Bayo Col Hayward Dale Maitland Bryce Stewart<strong>Bowls</strong> <strong>NSW</strong>, 2011-12 Annual Report & Year Book Page 9
