AbediProject Code: PCMPN04Summary:Distribution Automation System (DAS) are increasingly being introduced by electricutilities to improve system efficiency, ensure a reliable supply of electric and reducemaintenance and operating costs. Utilities naturally want to keep customers satisfied byproviding good service at minimal billing while showing reasonable profit.Electric utilities often use several types of communication media for different functions.Since divers operation such as voice, monitoring, supervisors, control and datacommunication require a suitable medium. The different medium from technical,manageability and functional aspect are evaluated.In dependence, geography condition, error, speed, reliability, availability, security,development are the most important criteria.Project Results:There are only three practical ways to DAS communication. Dialup,Continuous cable installation (Leased or owned) and radio.
