Getting StartedLogging In1. Double click the Protege icon on your desktop or browse to the program from your Windows Start Menu:Start > All Programs > ProtegeThe Logon window is displayed.2. Enter your details:• Server: Type of server that the Protege System Management Suite will connect to. Select either LocalMachine or Remote Machine. The Remote Machine option should only be selected if you are connectingto a remote client and the server is not located on the current computer. Your system administrator willadvise you if this option is required.• Protocol: When choosing Remote Machine you must select the protocol to use. Choose fromCOM/DCOM (With callbacks), COM/DCOM (Without callbacks) or TCP/IP.This option is disabled when connecting to a local machine.• Computer Name/IP Address: If connecting remotely using COM/DCOM enter the name of the server. Ifusing TCP/IP, enter the IP address in the format xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx• Authentication: Select the authentication method to use:User Name and Password: To login using your Protege logon name and password.-or-Windows Authentication: To connect using your current Windows User credentials.Your system administrator or property manager will advise you on which of these options should beselected.3. Click Logon.4. If logging on for the first time or if there is no site set up in the system, the New Site Wizard (see page 31)launches automatically upon startup. Use the wizard to enter the details of the new site you wish toconfigure.iThe default logon is admin and the default password is admin. The Protege InterfaceProtege Application WindowThe Protege application window provides a simple graphical user interface to allow the operator to program thesystem with ease.The application window consists of the following components:1.
