In 2010, the controversial sculptor markus Lüpertz
completed a public artwork for the german town of
gelsenkirchen. the 60-foot-tall aluminum sculpture
is an unorthodox representation of the mythological
hero Hercules as a lumpy character with stumpy legs
and one arm. this catalogue focuses on 43 bronze maquettes
that Lüpertz used to develop the final work.
