Eng., residing at 3295 Spruce Avenue, Burlington, ON,L7N 1J5 do hereby certify that:• I am employed by <strong>Kinross</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> Corporation, 40 King Street West, Toronto,Ontario, Canada, M5H 3Y2, in <strong>the</strong> capacity of Vice President, <strong>Technical</strong>Services.• I am a graduate of <strong>the</strong> University of Cape Town (1984) with a B.Sc. ChemicalEngineering degree and have practiced my profession continuously since 1984.• I am a member in good standing of <strong>the</strong> Association of Professional Engineers ofOntario, licence number 100107661.• I have been involved with <strong>the</strong> mining industry continuously since my graduationfrom University and have operating and engineering experience in gold mineslocated in South Africa, Canada, United States of America, Russia, Brazil andChile.• I have read <strong>the</strong> definition of "qualified person" set out in National Instrument 43-101 ("NI 43-101") and certify that by reason of my education, affiliation with aprofessional association (as defined in NI 43-101) and past relevant workexperience, I fulfill <strong>the</strong> requirements to be a "qualified person" <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> purposes ofNI 43 -101.• I am responsible <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> supervision of <strong>the</strong> preparation of <strong>the</strong> “<strong>Technical</strong> <strong>Report</strong><strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Fort</strong> <strong>Knox</strong> <strong>Mine</strong>”, dated March 31, 2008. I have read National Instrument43-101 and Form 43-101F1, and <strong>the</strong> technical report has been prepared inaccordance with this instrument.• I have personally visited <strong>the</strong> mine site on several occasions from 2004 to 2007.The most recent visit was in November, 2007.• As of <strong>the</strong> date of this certificate, to <strong>the</strong> best of my knowledge and belief, <strong>the</strong>technical report contains all <strong>the</strong> scientific and technical in<strong>for</strong>mation that isrequired to be disclosed to make <strong>the</strong> technical report not misleading.• I have not had prior involvement with <strong>the</strong> property that is <strong>the</strong> subject of <strong>the</strong>technical report.• I am not independent of <strong>the</strong> issuer. Per section 5.3.2 of National Instrument 43-101 an independent qualified person was not required to write <strong>the</strong> technicalreport on <strong>the</strong> <strong>Fort</strong> <strong>Knox</strong> <strong>Mine</strong>.2
