<strong>Fort</strong> <strong>Knox</strong> <strong>Mine</strong> <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>Report</strong>may occasionally exceed +90 F. The annual precipitation in Fairbanks is approximately30.5 centimetres (12 inches). Typically, inclement wea<strong>the</strong>r conditions, such astemperature inversions or slippery road surfaces, will only negatively impact productionin <strong>the</strong> open pit <strong>for</strong> portions of a few shifts in any given year.The <strong>Fort</strong> <strong>Knox</strong> milling operation obtains its process makeup water from a fresh waterreservoir located within <strong>the</strong> permitted property area. The tailings storage area on siteand is under review <strong>for</strong> storage capacity <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> remaining mine life of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Fort</strong> <strong>Knox</strong>.Power is provided to <strong>the</strong> mine by <strong>Gold</strong>en Valley Electric Association’s power grid serving<strong>the</strong> area over a distribution line paid <strong>for</strong> by <strong>Kinross</strong>.21
