Basic medical-surgical nursing care is directed toward the adult in acute and chronic settings. It demonstrates and features the application of thenursing process. Physiological and pathophysiological processes are presented, and the reasons behind professional nursing care and theidentification of problems are examined. Legal topics, including standards of care, informed consent, and refusal of treatment, are discussedearly in the course along with ethical issues to facilitate quality of care.
