ST 231L Surgical Principles and Practice IIThis course is designed to teach students the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care in the surgical setting and focuseson perioperative case management. Students will be competent in the level of transferring patients, positioning, prepping, monitoring,and performing vital signs. 2.00 credit hours. Prerequisites: ST 211L Surgical Principles and Practice I and ST 220 Surgical Procedures I.Corequisite: ST 240 Surgical Procedures II.ST 240 Surgical Procedures IIThis course provides a comprehensive study of basic, intermediate, and advanced specialty surgical procedures as described in the corecurriculum. 4.00 credit hours. Prerequisites: ST 211L Surgical Principles and Practice I and ST 220 Surgical Procedures I. Corequisite: ST 231LSurgical Principles and Practice II.ST 251 Clinical Practicum IIn this course, students will begin a clinical externship. While under the supervision of the surgical team, the student will observe cases andbegin to scrub and assist team members when directed. Students become familiar with the operating room, procedures, and practices of theworking surgical environment. 6.00 credit hours. Prerequisites: ST 231L Surgical Principles and Practice II and ST 240 Surgical Procedures II.ST 261 Clinical Practicum IIThis course is a continuation of Clinical Practicum I. In this final phase of externship, the student will exhibit a more independent role whileunder the continued supervision of the surgical team. Students are expected to actively participate in the perioperative process. 6.00 credithours. Prerequisite: ST 251 Clinical Practicum I. Corequisite: ST 270 Surgical Technology Examination Preparation.ST 270 Surgical Technology Examination PreparationThis course will provide the surgical technology student with the needed preparation to complete the certification exam process. Itreinforces academic knowledge, professional accountability, independent decision-making, and the critical nature of self-assessment. Thenational certification examination for surgical technologists (CST), provided by the National Board of Surgical Technology and SurgicalAssisting (NBSTSA), will be administered in this course. 3.00 credit hours. Prerequisite: ST 251 Clinical Practicum I. Corequisite: ST 261Clinical Practicum II.(tn) therapeutic massageTN 081 Subjective, Objective, Assessment and Plan IThis course will provide the opportunity for the student to develop better writing skills in the Subjective, Objective, Assessment, Plan (SOAP)finding format for the clients. Corequisite: TN 247 MassageTherapy Clinic IV.TN 091 Pathology Care Plan ProjectDuring this course, the student will be required to write 10 care plans and give a presentation related to specific client injuries, diseases,and conditions come upon in massage therapy clinic. This care plan format is an extended version of SOAP notes. The care plan projectwill be done in conjunction with TN 210 Pathology for the Massage Therapist. Non-credit course. Corequisite: TN 210 Pathology for theMassage Therapist.TN 095 Eastern Wellness ProjectThis project is done in conjunction with the Eastern Wellness class. The Eastern Wellness Project will focus on creating a research paper andpresentation on different massage techniques and/or bodywork modalities. Non-credit course.
