CHAPTER 1FIELD PRACTICUM ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTUREThe Field Education Office is responsible for the overall administration of the fieldprogram. The Field Education Office works under the direction of the Associate Deanand in collaboration with the M.S.W. and B.S.W. program directors for both the Athensand Gwinnett campuses. The Field Education Office coordinates agencies, facultymembers, students, and field instructors to provide the best experiences possible.FIELD EDUCATION OFFICE ROLEThe Field Education Office is responsible for the total field education program of theSchool of Social Work. The Field Education Office is led by the Director of FieldEducation who oversees field education for both the MSW and the BSW programs.There are two Coordinators of Field Education; one who is responsible for all BSW fieldplacements and one who is responsible for all Atlanta area placements (both foundationand concentration placements).Field Education Office responsibilities include:1. Evaluation and maintenance of a bank of agency resources to adequatelymeet student learning needs2. Identification of openings for students at practicum sites3. Coordination of student placements with agency openings4. Coordination of student interviews at agency and follow-up confirmationsof placements5. In collaboration with the Associate Dean, the MSW Program Director,and faculty, assign faculty liaisons to agencies6. Provide orientation to faculty liaisons7. Provide agency and student information to faculty liaison.8. Train and orient field instructors9. Orient of students to practicum process10. Maintain legal documents necessary for agency-university affiliations5
